WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), chairman and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today held a committee business meeting during which members approved two nominations, nine bills, and one resolution. They released the following joint statement:
“Today, we were pleased to pass several pieces of legislation with bipartisan support to help America outcompete our foremost adversaries and protect the American people. The International Nuclear Energy Act will bolster the U.S. domestic nuclear energy industry and offset China and Russia’s growing influence on nuclear energy development. The International Quantum Research Exchange Act will promote U.S. leadership in quantum research through research exchanges with allies to counter China’s growing quantum sector. And the other bills put forward by the good work of our colleagues will make great strides towards making America safer and more prosperous. We look forward to working together to advance these bills this Congress.”
