“It was a pleasure to meet with Prime Minister Fiala in the U.S. Capitol today. The Czech Republic is an important NATO partner, and I appreciate its efforts to meet the commitment it made to spend 2% of its GDP on defense. As the United States prepares to host the NATO summit in Washington this summer, I hope our countries will be able to work together to revitalize NATO’s military strength and support for Ukraine. The leadership our Czech allies have shown in creating a coalition to supply ammunition to Ukraine is an example to us all.

“I am also grateful to the Czech Republic for its close engagement with Taiwan and efforts to counter both Chinese and Russian foreign influence within its borders.”
