Corker Statement on Deaths of Justin and Stephanie Shults in Brussels Terror Attacks

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement after reports that Tennessean Justin Shults and his wife Stephanie have been identified as among those killed in the terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium. Corker's office worked with the families and the State Department to help locate the couple after they were reported missing in the wake of the attacks at the Brussels Airport.

"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Justin and Stephanie Shults in the terrorist attacks in Brussels," said Corker. "To their family members and to all who loved them, we offer our prayers and deepest sympathies as we mourn their passing. We also extend condolences to all of the families who lost loved ones and to the people of Belgium.”

“From Chattanooga, to Paris, San Bernardino, Brussels, and beyond, we have seen unimaginable events unfold before our eyes,” added Corker. “It is clear that the fight against this evil will be a long-term struggle. To protect our citizens, we must deepen our partnership with Europe and other allies to defeat ISIS and other terror groups."
