Menendez to Deliver Keynote Address at German Marshall Fund’s Brussels Forum on Saturday on Transatlantic Relationship and Ukraine Developments
Brussels, Belgium – U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will travel to Brussels, Belgium for a series of meetings with key European Union and NATO leaders. He will also attend the German Marshall Fund’s Brussels Forum where he will deliver a keynote address on Saturday morning.
“During this period of truly historic and transformative global developments, we in the United States alongside our allies in Europe have a duty to lead by embracing our bedrock ideals which have propelled peace and progress for the last seven decades,” said Menendez. “Principles of democracy and freedom, values that respect the rule of law and promote tolerance need to define societies throughout the world but they require constant vigilance based on strong leadership from the United States and Europe. I look forward to being in Brussels to discuss with top EU and NATO leadership challenges created by Russia’s assault on Ukraine, the ongoing civil war and humanitarian crisis in Syria and the sanctions the U.S., Europe and our allies are using to stop Iran in its pursuit of attaining a nuclear capability. As we have proven in the past, U.S. and E.U. leadership are vital to peacefully resolving these and other challenges around the globe.”
