Risch Office Helps Idahoans Leave Afghanistan

BOISE, Idaho – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement on his office’s efforts to bring Idahoans home from Afghanistan:

“One of the most important functions that a congressional office serves is to assist our constituents when they need help. That need has rarely been greater than as of late, when we had a number of Idaho residents reach out for help when they suddenly needed to get out of Afghanistan just ten days ago. I’m proud to say that my incredible staff in Idaho and on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee have successfully worked with the State Department to get EVERY single Idahoan out of Afghanistan.

“There are many more people who wish to leave Afghanistan, and I know there are Idahoans who have reached out to my office for evacuation assistance for their families and friends, in some cases. The administration’s arbitrary and rapidly approaching deadline is making it difficult to complete our mission, but we will continue to pursue these open cases and do all that we can to get these people out of there.”
