WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement on the Trump Administration's issuance of a general license allowing certain transactions with previously sanctioned individuals and entities and a temporary waiver of Caesar Act sanctions:
"I commend the Administration’s lifting of sanctions, including issuing a temporary waiver under the Caesar Act. This is a positive step that will help Syria build a stable future. As we continue to lift restrictions, it is critical that we also increase our engagement with the Syrian authorities to help advance long-term stability, democracy and a more secure and prosperous future for the Syrian people and the region.”
