WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued a statement following Russia’s largest drone attack on Ukraine since the war began and urged action on the bipartisan Russia sanctions package.
“I’m glad that Leader Thune has agreed to move forward on a tough legislative sanctions package and that President Trump seems to be finally coming to his senses. Putin has been playing President Trump for months and we’re currently no closer to the peace deal he promised on Day One of his Presidency. Instead, we saw the largest-ever aerial bombardment of Ukraine last night and innocent civilians killed with impunity. The time for action is now. Passing tough sanctions and sustaining the flow of security aide to Ukraine is the single best thing we can do to finally bring this war to a close.”
