Lugar Meets with Indiana American Legion Delegation

Senator Dick Lugar and his staff met today with leaders from the American Legion Department of Indiana and the Sons of the American Legion’s Detachment of Indiana.

The group discussed the importance of the Department of Veterans Affairs health care system and the challenges for some Hoosier veterans.

The delegation discussed the need for continued support for Hoosier troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors that work to make a wounded soldier’s service more comfortable while they are away from their family and friends.

The delegation also discussed Senator Lugar’s ongoing efforts to encourage the release of information from China, Russia, North Korea, and Vietnam on POW/MIA issues related to World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Lugar, a Navy veteran himself, continues to work on behalf of servicemembers in Indiana.

Just yesterday, Lugar commented on his concerns that not only is the budget of the United States stretched too far but with active operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya, our military is being stretched too far as well.
