Risch Statement on House Passage of Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed an amended version of the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act (S.178) yesterday:

“China’s illegal detainment of at least a million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in prison camps is atrocious and inexcusable,” said Risch. “The Chinese Communist Party must be held accountable for severe abuses of human rights in Xinjiang. I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues on the way forward for this important piece of legislation.”
