Corker Votes to Confirm Nikki Haley as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today voted to confirm Governor Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) as the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. The Senate voted 96 to 4 in favor of her nomination this afternoon. Earlier in the day, Corker joined members of the committee in voting to favorably report her nomination to the full Senate for consideration.

“I'm pleased to support Governor Nikki Haley as our ambassador to the United Nations,” said Corker. “The United Nations is at a place where we need a real driven person who cares about our national interests but also has the ability to break through the clutter and pursue reform. She has worked with legislators to bring people together to make that happen in her own state, and I’m glad she will be confirmed overwhelmingly as our U.N. ambassador."
