Chairman Kerry On The Nomination Of Wendy Sherman For Under Secretary Of State

Washington, DC – Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA) praised President Obama’s intention to nominate Ambassador Wendy Sherman for the position of Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs:

“Wendy Sherman is a terrific choice to become the State Department’s third-ranking official,” said Chairman Kerry. “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with Wendy for many years and she will bring the right intelligence, diligence, and broad experience to this critical job. I will work for her swift confirmation.”

The Under Secretary serves as the day-to-day manager of overall regional and bilateral policy issues, and oversees the bureaus for Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, the Near East, South and Central Asia, the Western Hemisphere, International Organizations, and International Narcotics and Law Enforcement.
