Corker Statement on Ceasefire Agreement over Conflict in Ukraine

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today made the following statement about the ceasefire agreement that was announced in Minsk regarding the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

“I approach this ceasefire with caution, but I am hopeful that it will hold and begin to deescalate this conflict so Ukraine can finally determine a future free from Russian aggression. At the same time, the U.S. and Europe must be prepared to increase costs on Russia and support Ukraine’s ability to defend itself should Putin once again violate his country’s commitments,” said Corker.
