Chairman Menendez Statement on U.S. Climate Action Report

Washington, DC – U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, released this statement following the release of the sixth U.S. Climate Action Report. The report is submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which requires domestic greenhouse gas emissions projections every four years.

"We have a moral obligation to do what we can to reduce climate change impacts for our children and grandchildren.  The only way to achieve that is to demonstrate global leadership on this global problem.  The U.S. Climate Action Report shows that we are reducing emissions and have a plan in place to meet our commitments going forward.  This puts us in a position of strength to keep the pressure on other nations to follow suit.  I applaud President Obama for this important report and his continued leadership on climate change."
